You need to record:
Hint: We define "small businesses" organisations that tend to be family-run (guest houses, cheap eateries). Medium businesses are by definition larger, potentially franchised, and may employ external staff. Large businesses include chains and large brands. This distinction is not perfect and quite subjective but this is the easiest way we found to be transparent on our socio-economic impact. It is sometimes difficult to make a judgement so they are only "best-estimates".
Hint: In order to assess whether your money is spent in an organization that has a positive impact, we suggest using the following criteria:
1. Does the organisation's products/services solve an environmental or social issue?
2. Is the organisation a mission-driven company, cooperative, charity or non-for-profit?
3. Does the organisation display any information on its impact and/or raise your awareness on a specific social / environmental issue?
4. Does the organisation have any external certification showing its good practices?
5. In your opinion, has the organisation responsible practices in activities that matter?
Check our blog on responsible consumption for more details.
